About Us

The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Nepal (formerly known as National Para Sports Association NPSA-Nepal) has been working for in sports for the peoples with disability in the country since its inception in 2000.

In April 2004, the NPSA was recognized by International Paralympic Committee (IPC) as the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) of Nepal. Upon this recognition, the NPC – Nepal (NPSA then) was able to make the historical participation in the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games. Since then, the NPC- Nepal has been electing and sending Nepal's elite athletes to compete in international sports events as well as IPC sanctioned games including Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

NPC – Nepal is the stands as the highest and only national body in terms of its responsibility in electing the elite Nepalese athletes with a disability for participating in the IPC sanctioned sports championships. NPC- Nepal is also undertakes its responsibility in overall development of Paralympic Sports in Nepal. It also disseminates information about disability sports, as well as promotes research, conducts training, organizes seminars, workshops and also plays key role in organizing national games and championships.

The NPC is always standing for awareness of the Paralympic Games as an elite sports competition and it also encourages young athletes with disabilities to test their limits in sport and to promote cross-cultural communication between disabled athletes. It promotes clean, fair sport as per developing under the code of conduct and direction of IPC and its constitution.
