The National Para Sports Association (NPSA) -Nepal has been continuously working for the disabled sports inside the country since its inception in 2000. On April 2004, the NPSA-Nepal was recognized by International Paralympic Committee as the National Paralympic Committee of Nepal which enabled NPSA to make the historical participation for the first time ever to the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games held in 17-28 September 2004.

The NPSA is the peak national body responsible for Nepal's elite athletes with a disability to international participation. It is responsible for electing and sending the Nepalese team to participate
in the Paralympic Games. It also spreads information about disability sports, and promotes research and training in this field

The NPSA wishes to raise awareness of the Paralympic Games as an elite sports competition and to broaden our view of elite sports. It also encourages young athletes with disabilities to test their limits in sport and to promote cross-cultural communication between disabled athletes. The NPSA promotes clean, fair and ethical elite sports.

Vision: To enhance the level of Paralympic Movement to the international standard and to develop professionalism in the disability sports in the country.
